All public transport in Oslo and the surrounding county of Akershus is part of the same ticket and price system operated by Ruter – the public transport supplier.  Ruter’s tickets are valid for buses, trams, subways, ferries (not the Bygdøy ferry) and local trains.


Where to buy tickets:

  • Ruter’s Customer Service Centre (in front of Oslo Central Station), in most Narvesen and 7-Eleven shops, and from ticket machines at ‘T-bane’ stations. 

  • Single tickets are available on the buses and ferries, but are more expensive than tickets bought in advance.  You must purchase tickets in advance for the T-bane. If you are caught travelling without a valid ticket, the fine is NOK 1150.  If you pay the fine on the spot, the fee is NOK 950.

  • Ticket Prices for Oslo (1 Zone) as of 29th January, 2017:

        Single ticket pre-bought (free transfer/return within one hour). Adult NOK 33

        Single ticket bought from driver (not available on the T-bane). Adult NOK 55

        24-hour ticket (flexible start time, non-personal ticket) Adult NOK 90

        7-day ticket (flexible start date, non-personal ticket) Adult NOK 240

  • Non-personal tickets can be used by different people, but only by one traveller at a time.


T-bane (metro) connection Oslo-Bekkestua:

  • Line 3 west going direct to Bekkestua from Jernbanetorget (central station), Stortinget, Nationaltheatret and Majorstuen.

  • Frequency Monday to Friday from Nationaltheatret to Bekkestua – every 15 minutes.

  • Approximate journey time, including weekends, from Nationaltheatret to Bekkestua is 20 minutes.

  • The return journey from Bekkestua to Nationaltheatret has the same frequency and journey time.

  • Frequency on Saturdays from Nationaltheatret to Bekkestua every 30 minutes until 10:00 (14 and 44 minutes past the hour), then every 15 minutes.

  • The last t-bane from Bekkestua to Oslo on Saturday leaves Bekkestua at 00.22

  • Frequency on Sundays from Nationaltheatret to Bekkestua every 30 minutes until 10:14 (14 and 44 minutes past the hour), then every 15 minutes.

Bus connection from Oslo to Bekkestua:

  • Bus number 150 going direct to Bekkestua from Oslo Bussterminal, St. Olavs plass and Nationaltheatret. 

  • Journey time 30 minutes.  Buses leave on Saturdays and Sundays 10 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour

Trikk (tram) connections from Oslo to Bekkestua:

Tram number 13 from Aker Brygge to Bekkestua.  Journey time 30 minutes. Trams leave on Saturday and Sundays 19 minutes, 39 minutes and 59 minutes past the hour.
